This week, host Joseph Mullen and journalist Kim Ives talk with anthropologist Dr. Timothy Schwartz about his new book “El Lío del Gringo: Fear, Greed, and Survival in a Dominican Prison,” which relates his experiences in a Puerta Plata penitentiary during 2004-2005.
The discussion covers not just how he ended up there and the characters he met but the broader lessons it teaches about Dominican society and its relationship with the United States.
