Xeno Crisis V1.0.2 GOG
the graphics are the one thing that really let me down with xeno crisis. the scenery is great and the character designs are memorable, but the backgrounds are just too dark, even for the neo geo aes. it’s a shame because the action is so intense and the settings of the game are so beautiful, but the visuals take a back seat to everything else, even the music and voice work.
with a title like xeno crisis it’s a miracle that it’s so short and that it’s a blast to play. the twin-stick shooting controls feel good and the enemies are all fun to take on. the levels are short and there’s only one boss which comes out of nowhere and decimates you. still, i’m hoping that bitmap bureau will have a follow up that will feature more of the variety that i love in classic 2d shooters.
xeno crisis is one of the best games of 2014 and one of the most underrated 2d shooters out there. it’s a classic that looks great, plays great, and has a really solid story that will keep you coming back for more. it’s a must-play for any fan of classic 2d action games.
xeno crisis is a game that’s bursting at the seams with charm. the aliens are all pretty cute, and the characters are suitably funny and engaging. you play as a marine who goes on a mission to defeat the aliens, and the game is great because there’s not a lot of dialogue. this is just pure action, and action is great.
a few weeks ago i was at new game collector, which is a videogames store. the guys there did me a favor and bought me a copy of xeno crisis for the sega mega drive / genesis. when i was unpacking it, i discovered that it was only half-finished, and had some extras in the box. i was pleasantly surprised to find a few things, but one of the more interesting extras was a cheat code which gave you the option to obtain the full weapon power-ups as well as other benefits. a cheat code is a really neat feature, which i’ve only seen in a few games. this was one of the games, and so it was more than just a neat little thing, but a key to unlock the full power of the game, which is great for people who want to get the full experience from it.
if you have fond memories of being stuck in front of the television with friends, and playing through the most recent aliens movie, xeno crisis is the perfect game to play. its retro feel makes the experience feel unique, and the game packs some awesome replay value.
the beauty of xeno crisis is the simple premise: you play a space marine sent on a mission to destroy an alien force. the graphics, music and enemies are all superb, and the game is unforgivingly difficult, but the game has a satisfying level of variation that keeps things fresh and different. the levels are randomly generated, which means youll encounter a variety of enemies and items, and youll constantly be learning new strategies to beat them.
xeno crisis’s visuals are, simply, breathtaking. the simple hand drawn graphics are eye-catching and a visual feast for the senses. the music, while a little lacking in variety, is upbeat and catchy. a good old fashioned space shooter with a nice touch of dark sci-fi.
xeno crisis is a game made for the arcade. it’s fast, it’s loud, it’s awesome, and its totally satisfying, and it’s a whole lot of fun. there’s only one problem: it’s also in an incredibly small niche. no one is going to go out and buy a neo geo aes to play xenomarine, and while the dreamcast version isn’t that bad, it’s only because the konami neo geo aes controller works perfectly with it. if bitmap bureau get their hands on the big n-gage, this is a game we’ll see on that machine, and then we’ll have to wait until the ipad is out and about before we see it on that.
