The user can select the channel(s) of the radio on which to deactivate the radio. For example, the radio would be deactivated on channel 1, all channels 2-49 (or until the last 49 channel), etc., through all channels. The radio will not be deactivated on a channel if it is on and transmitting. The next time the user presses the talk button, the radio will be deactivated only on that channel(s). The user can then activate the radio on a channel for normal operation.
MDC (Motorola Data Communications), also known as Stat-Alert, MDC-1200 and MDC-600, is a Motorola two-way radio low-speed data system using audio frequency shift keying, (AFSK). MDC-600 uses a 600 baud data rate. MDC-1200 uses a 1,200 baud data rate. Systems employ either one of the two baud rates. Mark and space tones are 1,200 Hz and 1,800 Hz. By default the radio inserts the data in codec 1, on a radio not equipped with this feature, data is sent in codec 2.
