Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) with enormous and dense deployment of sensors are prone to various attacks. As a countermeasure against such attacks, the authors investigated in this paper the performance of the protocol survivability, which works by resealing the data packets lost during the delivery of the packets to the destination node. The major goal of this paper is to figure out the factors that affect the performance of the protocol survivability as well as the quantity of the resealed data packets in WSNs with different topologies. To this end, this paper presents the analysis of the effect of network topology on the performance of protocol survivability and analyzes the quantity of resealed data packets when they use the different partial routes to finish the resealing process. First, it is found that the number of nodes in the dead link area greatly affects the average packet delivery ratio. More nodes in the dead link area give more chances for the packets to reach the destination node. Second, it is suggested that the longer the resealing time, the higher the packet delivery ratio. Lastly, it is revealed that for the same dead link area, the numbers of nodes used by the resealing process of different routers in
