In the old days of PC gaming, we threw caution to the wind and bought out software licenses, just because we could. Well, those days are over. I’m a PC gamer from the mid ’90s through the mid ’00s, and I’m gone because I’ve been gutted out by a shitty PC game that goes on sale for $40 for a week or two, has a monthly fee and never evolves past an F18 that’s been upgraded to a B2.
Even though older games have a reputation of making you feel like a Charlie Foxtrot, Vice City delivers on every one of those promises, and then some. The side-missions (many of which are literally impossible without a cheatsheet) are extremely plentiful. Like a player with a gold mine, Vercetti can invest in any number of cars, weapons, and houses that give him greater mobility in the environment and access to the sky.
Although most games have missions broken down into chapters or sections, GTA: Vice City has missions broken down into individual objectives with no limit on how many there are in the chapter. And if you don’t get them done in one mission, you can just move to the next, free of any time constraints.
If you’ve ever played Vice City and wondered what the hell you were doing in these parts, you owe it to yourself to give this game a shot. After all, you’d have a really difficult time getting an Orange Banana, the fruit that can be stolen from the plane in this game.
10 years ago, Rockstar revolutionized the world of console gaming with its grandiose, full-3D graphics. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was one of the biggest releases in a long time, mostly because it brought first-person shooter shooting action to the game consoles. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City represented a return to form for Rockstar; a no-holds-barred, open-world murderfest filled with deadly stunts, split-second timing puzzles, and tons of chaos.
