I use Lightroom for most of my digital work. I print my images when I need them but when I see a photo I like I move it into a utility folder and print the screen version. I then use my client’s version of Lightroom to find the version I was thinking of; if it’s not there, I go back to my version and share my adjustments with my client for feedback. I move images into Libraries. If I create a camera raw file, I open it in the same way and make adjustments just like I would with my image side-by-side. The adjustments are applied instantly so I no longer have to re-open my images.

For instance, if I tag a landscape photo I wish to print, Lightroom starts with a 36-megabyte disk and when I return to make more prints, the hard drive is only 2.5 gigabytes. I go to see what I’ve got, make adjustments, and create a new image. The adjustments stay with me.
