It is true that the number of records has an impact on the database size, however as long as you are not altering the records or the database schema, you should not be affected by the record count. Also, you should be aware that the compression ratio of the database is typically very high, and it might make no difference to the overall size of the database file.
As long as you are not altering the contents, the larger the database, the better. However, if the size of the database exceeds your disk space, the file will become fragmented and the accessing time will increase (read/write speed).
