Coronavirus May 30, 2021: 28,864 new cases in Tamil Nadu; Odisha extends lockdown till June 17

    Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Haryana extended the Covid-19-induced lockdown on Sunday. Delhi and West Bengal witnessed a dip in new confirmed cases of infection while Tamil Nadu recorded 28,864 and Karnataka 20,378 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The J&K administration decided to ease some of the curbs in place to contain the spread of coronavirus. Meanwhile, ASI ordered closure of all monuments and museums till June 15.

    Delhi reports 946 new cases, positivity rate drops to 1.25%
    Delhi reported 946 new confirmed cases of infection on Sunday, along with 78 more Covid deaths. Positivity rate in the national capital has dropped to 1.25 per cent, while case fatality rate is 1.69 per cent.

    There are now 1,21,000 active cases in Delhi.

    Maharashtra reports 18,600 new cases, 402 more Covid deaths
    On Sunday, Maharashtra reported 18,600 new confirmed cases of Covid-19. Positivity rate in the state stands at 16.44 per cent.

    The virus also claimed 402 more Covid deaths in the state in the last 24 hours. The case fatality rate (CFR) is now 1.65 per cent.

    There are now 2,71,801 active cases in Maharashtra.

    2,256 new cases J&K; UT administration eases few curbs
    Jammu and Kashmir reported 2,256 new confirmed cases of infection and 29 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours.

    The J&K administration on Sunday issued a new set of guidelines, easing a few restrictions that have been in place in the UT to contain the spread of Covid-19.

    Tamil Nadu reports 493 Covid deaths and 28,864 new cases of infection
    Tamil Nadu on Sunday reported 28,864 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Sunday with Chennai accounting 2,689 and Coimbatore for 3,537 of those cases. The state now has 3,05,546 active cases while a total of 17,39,280 patients have recovered from the infection.

    Coronavirus has claimed 23,754 lives in Tamil Nadu, including 493 in the last 24 hours.

    Uttar Pradesh records 1,908 cases; state govt issues revised guidelines
    The Uttar Pradesh government said that night curfew will continue to be enforced throughout the state to contain the spread of Covid-19. At the same time, strict restrictions will remain in effect in districts with more than 600 cases.

    On Sunday, the state recorded 1,908 new confirmed cases of Covid-19.
