Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

AutoCAD is considered a powerful drafting and architectural tool for architects, engineers, and drafters.
Autodesk AutoCAD was developed in 1982 by John Walker and released to the public for the first time in December 1982. This section of the website describes the product’s origins and development and provides a history of its past and present. The following sections address how to get started with AutoCAD, and how to use the software program.
A look back in AutoCAD’s history
AutoCAD was originally developed for the Apple II personal computer. It was developed to draw and draft engineering designs that were more complex than the commercially available drafting software of the day (and, in fact, today). Its earliest iterations are still in use and have been updated to keep up with architectural and engineering practices. The original AutoCAD for Apple II had a type font that was also used on the Apple IIGS in 1989.
Development of the first version of AutoCAD was led by John Walker, an engineer at the time, and his team of drafters. There were only two drafters and one programmer. A later version of AutoCAD, also for Apple II, was a continuation of the original release with support for three drafters, more programmers, and additional features. This version, also known as AutoCAD 1.1, was released in February 1983 and is considered the first release.
When a group of drafters, programmers, and marketers from Autodesk gathered in July 1982, they were looking for a piece of software that would allow them to design and draft architectural and engineering drawings in a professional manner. They realized that if the first release was similar to what was commercially available in the industry, their proposed software would be eclipsed and lost to the competition. The group met at a McDonald’s restaurant and decided that the system must have a high level of ease of use, good communication between the people who used the software and the people who wrote it, and most importantly, the ability to work quickly. They created the product that became AutoCAD.
AutoCAD 1.0 for Apple II
A team of four drafters and programmers were responsible for creating the first release of AutoCAD. The team was originally working on a proposal for the drafters at General Electric (GE) and needed to create a design and drafting software that was easy to learn and had the flexibility to support complex architectural and engineering designs.

As CAD is a three-dimensional application, it is able to handle geometry.
The invention of the DWG drawing standard in 1985 was a milestone. Although it was a backward-looking format, it included some forward-looking features, such as allowing the use of 3D geometry.
In 2015, AutoCAD released ACIS, which is a more advanced 3D drawing standard, as well as many new 3D modeling capabilities.
As of the 2016 version of AutoCAD, the native file format for 3D is the DXF file format. This is also the standard for most CAD applications. DXF files can be read and written by AutoCAD and are compatible with other applications. DXF files are sometimes referred to as DWG files for architectural design.
There are also a number of proprietary CAD formats in use in the architectural, engineering, and construction industries. One of the more popular, SolidWorks, is also compatible with AutoCAD and can read and export AutoCAD files.

Picasa 3 for Windows 7 Beta Released
Woo hoo! Picasa 3 for Windows 7 Beta is out. The Beta release includes the following:
Windows 7 user interface
Improved user interface for Windows 8 users
Windows 7 is available now in the Picasa Web Albums store. As of this writing, Picasa 3 for Windows 7 is still in Beta but the functionality is available. Here is the new Windows 7 user interface.
The new Windows 7 user interface is dark and sleek. It provides the usual tools that users are used to.
Note: The full functionality is not available yet in the Beta version. I’ve not had the opportunity to download it yet. I will update this post as soon as I get my hands on it.
If you’re looking to get your hands on the Beta, go to the Picasa Web Albums store.
Update: I’ve been playing with it for the past hour and have gotten as far as adding a picture, creating a custom photo list, and tagging a few images.

Molecular-level insights into the non-covalent interactions between platelet-activating factor and cyclodextrin: a combined experimental and theoretical study.
This study is aimed to explore the non-covalent interaction between platelet-activating factor (PAF) and β-cyclodextrin (βCD) using different spectroscopic techniques and molecular modeling. The UV absorption spectroscopy of PAF in the presence of βCD indicates a large red-shift, suggesting a strong complexation. Dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy studies indicate that the formed inclusion complex is of nanometric size. The formation constant of PAF/βCD
