If nerve pain starts suddenly, stop activities that appear to trigger it and find a comfortable position. Gentle movement may help when stiffness or pressure contributes to symptoms, while rest may be appropriate after an injury or overuse. A warm or cool compress may provide temporary relief for some people. However, there is no single method that instantly resolves all nerve pain. If symptoms are severe, recurring, or accompanied by weakness, numbness, bladder or bowel changes, or difficulty walking, seek prompt medical evaluation.
